No Pride in Detention
End the detention of LGBTQI+ people
Join the campaign
If your organisation agrees that no LGBTQI+ person should be locked up indefinitely and subjected to LGBTQI-phobic bullying and abuse, sign up to be part of the movement to end LGBTQI+ detention.
We will display your logo below to show your support, and will stay in touch with campaign plans and more actions your organisation can take to help end LGBTQI+ detention. Beyond declaring your support on this page all actions are optional, but we hope you’ll join us when it matters in raising your voice for every LGBTQI+ person trapped in UK immigration detention.
Please note this form is for organisations and groups only – if you want to support the campaign as an individual, you can add your name here.
We welcome support from organisations that include and celebrate all LGBTQI+ people and agree with our values of safety, integrity, belonging and respect. Scroll down to see a list of organisations that support the campaign.

Wales is proud to be a nation of sanctuary. With increasing hostility to LGBTQI+ people in some countries, it's critical that we open our arms and hearts to those fleeing persecution. It's the moral thing to do and Pride Cymru firmly with the 'No Pride in Detention' campaign. Pride Cymru
LGBTQI+ people, or any oppressed people, don't take the decision to leave their country lightly. Nobody should be punished for wanting to live their life safely and authentically, but that's the impact of indefinite detention.TransActual

The UK and Scottish Governments should do more to welcome refugees, and to ensure those who are fleeing persecution have a safe place to rebuild their lives. Yet we know that too often, LGBT+ refugees are experiencing some of the same kinds of discrimination and abuse that they seek sanctuary from when arriving here. This is due to a UK asylum system that is not fit for purpose. Things must change. Equality Network and Scottish Trans
Detention must end for everybody - NOW!Women For Refugee Women
Immigration and seeking asylum are not crimes and no one should be locked up indefinitely. LGBTQI+ people are at significant and unacceptable risk of harm in detention facilities, and all it serves is to traumatise already vulnerable members of our community. Thank you for all the work you are doing to abolish this inhumane practice, the Ledward Centre is with you. The Ledward Centre
Siblings of Marsha wholeheartedly support LGBTQI+ siblings held in all forms of incarceration. Siblings of Marsha take our responsibility to affect change incredibly seriously. There cannot be Pride for some us without liberation for all us.Siblings of Marsha
We are experiencing an increase in the number of our clients needing safety and refuge in the UK. Many have escaped their own family who wanted to kill them after discovering they were LGBTQ+. We support this campaign because it is our moral duty to protect the lives of those most vulnerable, not cause them more harm. Detention for LGBTQ+ people in centres rife with hostility towards queer people dramatically increases the risk of suicide and long term damage to their mental health. Naz & Matt Foundation
Immigration detention exists as a method of crushing the human spirit. In the criminal justice system, those who are sent to jail are given a sentence and know when they will be released. In immigration detention, however, there is often no way of knowing how long you will be there. For LGBTIQ+ people in detention, instances of homo/transphobia from other detainees and staff only add to the lifelong trauma of their experiences. We strongly stand against the detaining of any LGBTIQ+ people seeking asylum. To be treated as a criminal for escaping persecution and simply trying to survive as an LGBTIQ+ person is an utter betrayal of humanity.African Rainbow Family
Micro Rainbow supports the No Pride in Detention campaign because we know how dangerous immigration detention is for LGBTQI migrants. Every year, Micro Rainbow receives urgent requests of help from vulnerable LGBTQI migrants who have been detained. LGBTQ migrants face serious issues in immigration detention. They are likely to experience discrimination, violence and harassment from other detainees who can hold LGBTQIphobic views. Detention can jeopardise LGBTQI people’s chances of winning their asylum claims. That is why we have dedicated one of our safe houses to support LGBTQI asylum seekers out of detention centres. It's time to end detention for LGBTQI migrants, and instead commit to a community-based approach that keeps vulnerable migrants safe, like Micro Rainbow’s model and solution.Micro Rainbow
